MDCAT MCQs, mock tests & preparation
Medical & Dental College Admission Test. MDCAT is the entry test for MBBS and BDS admissions in Pakistan. It is a multiple-choice paper built on the FSc / A-Level syllabus, so speed and accuracy on topic-wise MCQs decide your merit.

MDCAT paper pattern
MDCAT is conducted under the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) for admission to MBBS and BDS programmes in public and private colleges. In recent years the paper has had 200 multiple-choice questions to be solved in about three and a half hours, with no negative marking.
Marks have been divided roughly as Biology 68, Chemistry 54, Physics 54, English 18 and Logical reasoning 6. Biology alone is about a third of the paper, so it usually decides merit. PMDC publishes the syllabus, the passing percentage and the test date each year — always check the latest notice.
What the syllabus covers
The science sections follow the FSc (first and second year) syllabus, aligned across provinces by PMDC. Biology is heavy on cell biology, biological molecules, enzymes, human physiology (digestion, circulation, respiration, nervous system, homeostasis), genetics and evolution. Chemistry tests both physical chemistry numericals and organic reactions; Physics has many short numericals on mechanics, electricity, waves and modern physics.
English checks grammar, vocabulary and sentence correction, and logical reasoning has short puzzles on sequences, deductions and cause-and-effect.
A practical preparation plan
Finish the textbooks first: MDCAT questions are mostly built from lines in the FSc books, so read every chapter, including diagrams and tables. Then practise chapter-wise MCQs daily, reading the explanation for each mistake.
In the last six to eight weeks, sit full-length timed mocks once or twice a week. With 200 questions in about 210 minutes you have roughly a minute per question — learn to mark and skip slow numericals and come back to them. Because there is no negative marking, never leave a question blank.
Common mistakes
Students often spend months on extra guidebooks and never finish the textbook, ignore English and logical reasoning (24 easy marks), or take their first full mock a week before the exam. Practise little and often, and review mistakes the same day.
